Hemel seniors make a splash at Borehamwood

Senior swimmers from Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club took Borehamwood by storm on the weekend.

A team of just 15 travelled to the annual Herts Masters and finished in a credible fourth place against sides boasting far greater numbers.

Pam Ware was in outstanding form, picking up no less than four personal best times as well as a medal in
every event she swam. She took gold in the 100IM and 50m butterfly, as well as silvers in the 50m breaststroke and freestyle.

Another double gold winner was Sian MacDonald, who excelled in the 100IM and 50m breaststroke, and also took with two bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Dave Pirrie meanwhile who took home a gold for his favourite 50m breaststroke event, and also claimed silvers in the 100IM, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Natasha Weisz won her 50m backstroke and came third in the 50m freestyle.

Other medallists were Mark Ayres, who scored one silver and three bronzes, Head Coach Charles Dainton who came second in the breaststroke, Nicky Dainton, who came third in the backstroke, and Kim Hamilton who took bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Liz Sherriff and Martyn Hall, making their debut appearances as Masters, also managed to post some very impressive times.
