Camelot had more than just league position spurring them on at Old Hamptonians on Saturday.
Having been beaten in both their fixtures with OH last season, Camelot showed unparalleled determination in their away fixture and came away with a deserved 22-7 win.
It took 25 minutes for them to put the first points on the board however, des
pite having the best of all the early possession. And it came via an Daniel O'Brien penalty - the fly half slotting home after some good work from both forwards and backs.
The home side responded immediately from the restart, advancing into the visitors' 22. Camelot lost possession from a lineout and Old Hamptonians drove across the line to score a converted try, making it 7-3 29 minutes in.
Camelot responded well, and soon after the restart the home side's no 7 was sent to the sin-bin for ten minutes for handling the ball in the scrum.
They failed to make the most of their man advantage, but within 16 minutes of 2nd half play captain and hooker Mike Green had scored - bursting through from the back of the maul to score Camelot's first try of the game.
The visitors' forwards then began to dominate play and came close to scoring when prop Arthur Jeffrey was denied a try after being held up as he crossed the line.
The opposition forwards began to crumble and were penalised for a series of infringements, which saw their hooker issued with a yellow card sending him to the sin-bin for 10 minutes - the home side deciding to take the option of uncontested scrums.
Visiting second row Torran MacDougall was denied five points to his name when he was penalised for a double movement but the visitors were undeterred and persisted with their attacks, piling pressure on the Old Hamptonian defence.
Winning a scrum deep in the opposition 22, the ball came out to outside centre Andy Curtain who broke away before passing to no 8 Peter Harmse, who sprinted across the line to score, extending the lead to 7-13 with less than 10 minutes of the match remaining.
Camelot continued to dominate from the restart advancing back into the 22 to steal possession from an opposition lineout.
No 4 Torran MacDougall made another good break before off-loading to Harmse, who stormed across the line to score his second try of the match, which fullback Chris Walker converted.
That stretched the Camelot lead, with the score 7-22 when the final whistle blew.
