Olympic-hopeful Hannah Freeman (pictured above) came first in the senior FIG section at the LGF and Heathrow Invitational Championships last Sunday. She finished top with a superb total score of 53.30.

Meanwhile in the Junior Challenge section Jessica Barfoot took first place, scoring an excellent 47.90 and Niamh Ryan performed well at Espoir FIG level to come fourth with an overall score of 50.00.

Manager of the club Annie Price said: "Hannah is in the top ten gymnasts in the country and did very well—we were very pleased with her performance.

"This was the first time Jessica had competed at this level and did exceptionally well to beat the other competitors.

"Niamh was up against the best in Britain including the British Champion with the majority older than her so she did very well."

The club's boys meanwhile swept to success at the Baskervilles Cup at Baskervilles School of Gymnastics in Bath over Saturday and Sunday.

The team, all in the 'born in the year 2000 or younger' category, were Charles Adeleke, Arthur Hardman, Lewis Irons and Sakyi Acquaah, and came first overall by the considerable margin of two marks.

Charles Adeleke racked up a total score of 73.95 coming first on rings and parallel bars and second on vault and high bar to earn himself the title of overall individual winner.

Lewis Irons meanwhile finished in seventh place, doing well to come second overall on pommel. Sakyi Acquaah was 10th, winning a bronze on pommel.

The team's impressive result came against 40 athletes from nine other sides.


The school is one of the proposed Olympic training venues for London 2012, and is looking to refurbish its current premises.

It is holding a fundraising gala on July 12 to raise money, with all the club's gymnasts performing displays, as well as hip hop dancers there to entertain the crowds.
