A marathon runner is getting set to retrace her father's steps to raise money in his memory.
Christine Hall, of The Cart Track in Hemel Hempstead, will run the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday (October 5).
It will be the third marathon that the 51 year old mum of two has completed to raise cash for the Parkinson's Disease Society West Herts branch.
She said: "My dad, Bill Ellis, died four years ago after having Parkinson's Disease for more than 20 years.
"He was a very fit and active man and often spent his weekends cycling hundreds of miles in the Highlands from Dundee where we once lived.
"I expect he took the same route as the marathon a few times."
Christine, a former Hemel Hempstead School pupil, is also running in memory of her mother, Jean Ellis, who cared for Bill and died in 1994.
She said: "Dad was about my age now when first diagnosed with Parkinson's and the thought of how he had to give up his cycling, running and then his beloved hill-walking makes me determined to do this fundraising marathon in a place that has a great deal of
significance for me and my family."
Christine, who works as a lab manager in London has raised thousands of pounds for the Parkinson's Disease Society by completing the New York Marathon in 2005 and last year's London Marathon.
She hopes to raise at least £500 with her latest effort and you can sponsor her at
