The race to create the official Gazette sausage has well and truly begun with entries from creative readers flooding in.
To celebrate British Sausage Week in November, we have teamed up with award winning Berkhamsted butcher Joe Collier to give readers the chance to design their own sausage.

Our very first entry came from 29 year old Rachel Ginger, of St Agnells Lane, who sent her recipe for The Breakfast Sausage Delight - a Vegetarian Alternative.

Miss Ginger said she was inspired to create the banger, that contains a delicious combination of vegetarian bacon, bean and tomato, for her vegetarian neighbour.

Ingredients in other readers' suggestions range from cheese to curry paste.

We are still looking for new ideas and you can submit your recipe using the form.

Entries will be judged by Mr Collier, who owns Eastwoods on Gravel Path, The Gazette and the BBC food and wine critic Nigel Barden.

The best three will be made and 5lbs worth given to the readers who
designed them.

The three finalists will then go head to head in a vote and it will be up to the public to decide which should be crowned The Gazette Sausage, that will be sold in Eastwoods during British Sausage week on November 3 to 9.

What would you like in the banger? Email you suggestions to editorial@hemelgazette.co.uk

Alternatively send it to: Newspaper House, 39 The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP1 1LH.
