Grass will always be neatly cropped in the grounds of St Mary's Church thanks to a cash grant.
Borough councillor for Northchurch Alan Fantham has pledged £700 to the village church to pay for two new lawn mowers.

The money comes from the Councillors Community Fund, which allocates each Dacorum Borough Councillor £2,000 every year to spend on projects in their ward.

The scheme was launched in November 2007.

Another £700 from Cllr Fantham's amount will go to the Happy Wanderers, a village group run for disabled people by St John's Ambulance. It will be used to pay for a special hearing system.

And Northchurch Scouts will get £600 towards a new roof at their building in South bank Road.
