A 'bug bomb' is thought to have caused a fire scare after filling an underground supermarket car park in Berkhamsted with a cloud of pesticide.
Firefighters believe the insect-killing smoke banger was set off by pranksters at Tesco in Berkhamsted soon after school finished at about 4pm yesterday (Tuesday, October 7).

The cloud produced sparked fears of an electrical blaze and firemen were called to the store in High Street.

They found an underground car park full of 'light smoke' and used thermal imaging cameras to check electrical equipment.

No fire was found and no one was injured.

Dave Humphreys, a crew commander at Hemel Hempstead Fire Station, said he believed the smoke had come from a bug bomb – an aerosol can that releases a cloud of pesticide.
